Fly-in Safari
Fly in over the mighty Serengeti and land among Tanzania's wildlife

Serengeti from above
This is the perfect trip if you want an extra experience on your safari and save time at the same time. It is also convenient as you avoid long journeys by jeep. You fly from Arusha and land in the middle of the Serengeti a few hours later. It is a magical feeling to fly over the Serengeti as you can see all kinds of animals roaming freely on the savannah from the plane.
Many nature films are shot in the Serengeti, which is easy to understand as it is one of the world's most animal-dense areas, with around 4 million animals living here. The grasslands are dominated by wildebeests, buffalos, zebras, and antelopes, but there are also many predators here.
The safari jeep is a four-wheel drive Land Cruiser equipped with electrical outlets, where you can lift the roof to get a perfect view of the savannah.
If you would like to experience other parks, you can choose to take a jeep to Serengeti and visit the other parks along the way. Then you can fly from Serengeti to either Zanzibar or Arusha.
We recommend adding Zanzibar either after the safari or starting your trip in Zanzibar and ending with a safari. Zanzibar is known for its tropical greenery, warm turquoise sea, and long beaches lined with coconut palms. The island is just as suitable for total relaxation as it is for those who want to fill their days with experiences.
This package can be extended by one or more extra days. You can also fly one way and travel by jeep the other way.

Days included in the package
Day 1 - Departure from Sweden
Today your adventure begins as you fly from your chosen airport to Kilimanjaro or Arusha. We are happy to book your flight to Tanzania, but you can also choose to book it yourself.
Day 2 - Arrival in Arusha
Welcome to amazing Tanzania! Upon arrival, you will be met by one of our friendly guides waiting in the arrivals hall with a sign bearing your name. You will then be taken to your hotel to rest and recover from your journey. The area around Arusha is characterized by coffee and banana plantations and is located at a high altitude, which makes the climate pleasant all year round.
If you want to go directly to the national parks, this is possible at an additional cost.
Day 3 - Serengeti - Big cats on an endless savannah
Early in the morning, you will be picked up at your hotel and transferred to Arusha Airport. Then, you will enjoy an approximately one-hour flight with fantastic views of the savannah stretching out below you. Seeing the African landscape from above is a magical start to your safari adventure.
You will land literally in the middle of the savannah, where your guide will be waiting for you. To make the most of your time, the safari will begin immediately after landing. During the day, you will stop for lunch at a picnic spot inside the national park, surrounded by the magnificent nature.
Traveling across the vast plains of the Serengeti is an unforgettable experience – the landscape feels endless and wildlife is ever-present. Here you have the opportunity to see all the big animals, with the exception of rhinos. The excitement lies in the unexpected – you never know which animals will suddenly appear or in what dramatic moments you will encounter them.
For those who want to experience even more, there is the option of combining Serengeti with other national parks along the way to Serengeti. You can then take a safari jeep for one leg of the journey and fly from Serengeti.
Day 4 - Serengeti - Among zebras and wildebeests
Today, an exciting full day of safari in Serengeti awaits. You will get up early in the morning to see the savannah come to life. The day will be spent spotting animals such as giraffes, ostriches, hyenas, antelopes, zebras, cheetahs, hippos, elephants, and much more. At dusk, you will return to your accommodation in central Serengeti. Sitting on the savannah surrounded by all the sounds and scents of Africa and looking up at the starry sky is magical.
Day 5 - Serengeti - Morning magic in the Serengeti and flight to Zanzibar (optional)
After an early breakfast, it's time for a trip to spot animals. It's impossible to predict what your safari experience will be like, as nothing can be controlled in the animal world and you never know what you're going to see. But your camera is guaranteed to be full of pictures and you will have spotted many different animals of the savannah. You will be driven to the airport in Serengeti and then take a flight to Zanzibar.
Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport by our local driver who will drive you to your hotel. Here you can enjoy relaxing days on Zanzibar's beautiful beaches, where you can soak up the sun and swim, or combine beach life with snorkeling, boat trips, and other exciting activities.
We are happy to arrange both flights and a complete itinerary on the island, but if you prefer to only book the domestic flight to Zanzibar and arrange your stay there yourself, that is also fine.
If you would rather travel home via Arusha on this day, that is of course also an option.
Day 5 - 9 - Sun and swimming
In Zanzibar, you can sink your feet into the warm sand and sip a coconut drink or lie in the shade and read a book.
We suggest staying in Jambiani, a genuine and charming part of Zanzibar where you can really get close to local everyday life. Along the miles-long beach, you can see women gathering seaweed at low tide and fishermen setting out in their traditional dhow boats. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed, perfect for long walks on the beach and discovering small, intimate restaurants and beach bars.
For those who want to vary their beach life, there are plenty of activities in and around Jambiani. Here you can visit caves, cycle through the villages, explore the Jozani rainforest, or go on various boat trips along the coast.
If you want more life and activity, you can choose Paje instead, which is located right next door and offers a wider range of cafés, bars, and water sports, especially kitesurfing.
We also have a wide selection of accommodations in other parts of Zanzibar, so if you would rather stay on a different beach, we will of course help you find the option that suits you best.
Our Swedish colleague Helen, who has lived in Zanzibar for many years, is available if you need advice or tips.
Day 10 - A spicy day in Stone Town
Today you will be driven to Stone Town. On the way, you will stop at a pleasant and authentic spice plantation, where you will be given a tour by a guide who grew up on the plantation. Here you can sample different spices and fruits and enjoy a lunch made from ingredients grown on the plantation.
Stone Town has a very special magic. The charming, narrow alleys, carved doors, and historic atmosphere make the city feel like it's from another time. It's a place full of mystery and life, perfect for exploring on foot.
In the evening, we highly recommend dinner at Emerson, a unique experience at sunset that we are happy to help you book.
If you prefer to stay an extra night at your beach hotel, you can of course opt out of the overnight stay in Stone Town. We can also arrange a shorter visit to the city if you want to experience the atmosphere without changing hotels.
Day 11 - Departure
Well in advance of your departure, you will be picked up at your hotel and driven to the airport. Depending on your flight time, you can spend your last day taking a final dip in the pool, enjoying a cup of coffee on one of the lovely rooftop terraces, or strolling around the shops to buy souvenirs and locally produced products.
- Breakfast
Day 12 - Return home
Today you will arrive home in Sweden after what we hope has been a fantastic trip. We hope you will take many wonderful memories with you to look back on.

Good to know
Robust and reliable safari jeeps
We use four-wheel drive Toyota Land Cruisers for all our safari tours in Tanzania. To ensure high quality and reliability, each jeep undergoes servicing after every trip. The roads to the parks are often paved, but inside the parks the terrain is more uneven, which makes for a slightly bumpy ride. However, our vehicles are equipped with comfortable soft seats for the most pleasant experience possible.
All our jeeps offer:
- seating for up to 7 passengers, all with their own window seat
- retractable roof offering unobstructed views of the savannah
- power outlets for charging mobile phones, cameras, and other equipment
- cool box where you can store any beverage
We are happy to help you book your airline tickets.
We have access to a system where we can compare a large number of flights and come up with several options based on your preferences, such as departure date, airline, number of stopovers, or departure city. We can book flights from most countries, not just Sweden.
The journey from Sweden usually takes around 14 hours, depending on the route.
If we find an option that suits you, we can also reserve the tickets, which means that the price is locked in for a short period while you consider your options. A reservation is not binding and can be canceled at any time if you decide not to proceed.
You are also welcome to book your own flight if you prefer.
- For a pure safari trip in Tanzania, it is easiest to fly to and from Kilimanjaro (JRO).
- If you combine a safari with Zanzibar, we recommend a multi-city ticket: fly to Kilimanjaro and home from Zanzibar (or vice versa if you want to end with the safari).
During certain periods in high season, we also have pre-booked airports on selected dates, which usually makes the price a little cheaper.
We usually book domestic flights between the mainland and Zanzibar, but you can also choose to do this yourself.
Currency & payment in Tanzania
Tanzania primarily uses Tanzanian shillings (TZS), but USD is sometimes accepted. However, it is often more expensive to pay in USD.
- Withdrawing money
Tanzanian shillings cannot be exchanged in Sweden, so you will need to withdraw money locally. There are ATMs at the airport, in Arusha, and in Moshi. - Card payments
Most restaurants and hotels acceptcard payments, but there are still places where you can only pay in cash or where the card machine does not work. Therefore, it is important to always have cash as a backup. - Small bills
It is smart to have small bills for buying fruit, water, snacks, or souvenirs. Therefore, be sure to ask for small bills when you shop at the beginning of your trip. A good plan is to withdraw a small amount at the airport when you arrive, and then withdraw more as needed after the safari. - Haggle with consideration
Prices are often negotiable, but do so with respect. Avoid haggling just for the sake of it, as many sellers operate on very small margins.
Clothing tips for your safari in Tanzania
This may be good to keep in mind before going on a safari
- The roof of the safari jeep provides good sun protection, so full-coverage clothing is not necessary. Feel free to choose light, airy, and loose-fitting garments.
- Avoid bright colors, black, and dark blue, as these can attract insects.
- The Ngorongoro area is located at high altitude and can be quite cold, especially in the mornings and evenings. Therefore, bring a warm sweater or jacket.
- When visiting Moshi, Arusha, or other cities, it is advisable to dress respectfully.
- Bring shoes with thick soles that can handle uneven terrain and protect against sharp thorns.
Tanzania offers unique and fascinating wildlife experiences all year round
December - March
Experience the calving season for wildebeest and zebra in the southern Serengeti, increasing your chances of witnessing the Great Migration. Enjoy the warmest temperatures of the year and lush, green landscapes early in the period.
April - May
Take advantage of fewer tourists and a lush, leafy environment during the long rainy season. Enjoy pleasant temperatures, but be prepared for potential road conditions and the need to keep vehicle windows closed during heavy downpours.
June - September
This long dry season offers excellent game viewing as vegetation thins and wildlife congregates around water sources. It's an ideal time to witness wildebeest and zebras crossing the Mara River. Expect dry weather and fewer mosquitoes, but also the highest number of tourists.
October - November
Enjoy amazing wildlife viewing in Tarangire as the animals gather near the Tarangire River. Witness the great migration returning to the Serengeti. Be prepared for potential short rains, which often occur in the evening or night and can result in fewer crowds and a greener landscape.
