Maria Lalloo

Founder

The idea for the company was born when I was ten years old and on my very first safari in Zimbabwe. The magic of looking out over the endless savannah and seeing a herd of elephants slowly wandering away toward the horizon planted a seed—a dream of one day working with safaris and travel in Africa myself. With a father who grew up in Zimbabwe, I later had many more opportunities to go on safari and gained a deeper understanding of both the nature and the people who live there.

My curiosity about the world has always been strong. I have studied and worked in New York, Sydney, Crete, and Dublin, but no matter how far I traveled, I eventually realized that Africa had a special place in my heart. I moved to Cape Town to work in safari sales and then continued to study tourism, marketing, and economics in Gothenburg.

As the company took shape, I traveled regularly to Tanzania and lived there for extended periods. It was there that I met people with the same drive and passion as myself, but with knowledge that complemented my own. Together, we have now built up a dedicated team based in Sweden, Tanzania, and South Africa.

What began as a childhood experience has become my greatest passion, and I am passionate about others experiencing safaris in the same way I did as a child and having memories to talk about for the rest of their lives.
A nature film or photo can never give a true picture of a trip like this. You simply have to come here yourself and create your own travel experience.

Valentina

Travel designer

Valentina is our charming travel agent based in Stockholm. She has a strong passion for travel and has previously lived in both the US and Australia, as well as traveling around Europe and Africa. She is driven by curiosity and a genuine interest in discovering new cultures and meeting people, and particularly appreciates gaining insight into the everyday life and way of life of the local population.

One of her strongest memories from Africa is a walking safari where a giraffe suddenly appeared from behind a bush. For a few quiet moments, they stood eye to eye, before she noticed a small family of warthogs curiously watching her, and zebras grazing peacefully further away on the savannah. It is precisely this harmonious coexistence between animals, nature, and tranquility that makes the African bush so exciting and peaceful for her.

In her work with us, Valentina places great importance on listening to each customer's wishes and needs in order to tailor trips that truly meet their expectations. She is involved in the entire process, from the initial planning stages and booking to the trip itself, with the goal of ensuring that every customer feels secure, inspired, and satisfied, and takes home memories for a lifetime from what will hopefully be their dream trip.

Helen

Person responsible in Zanzibar

Helen is originally from Gothenburg and has extensive experience working as a travel and excursion designer. She has lived in Zanzibar for many years and has built strong relationships with the local population. The excursions she has developed are created in close collaboration with local operators, making them unique and difficult to find elsewhere. Over the years, she has become close to many families on the island and appreciates the genuine Zanzibari hospitality.

Helen is fascinated by Stone Town's rich history and cultural diversity, but her heart beats a little faster for the east coast and the village of Jambiani, where she lives. Her days often begin with a dip in the sea with her dog, followed by a freshly squeezed juice, either at a local restaurant or at home on the veranda.

If you see someone gently moving a cat that has settled too close to the road, or adjusting the rope on a cow so that it can reach the shade, chances are it's Helen. Caring for both people and animals permeates most of what she does.

Helen also owns a traditional dhow that she sails from time to time. The boat is built entirely from natural materials, a conscious choice that reflects her strong commitment to sustainability and respect for the sea and nature.

Mohamed

Responsible northern tanzania

Mohamed grew up near Kilimanjaro and has climbed the mountain a number of times. For him, it is important that all trips have a sustainable perspective. He has already done a number of Kilimanjaro climbs where the aim was to pick up litter along the way.

Mohamed is creative, enthusiastic, and has many years of experience in the safari industry. He is often out on the savannah himself, looking at new accommodations and trying out new things. He is constantly thinking up new tours and experiences that can exceed customers' expectations. He is incredibly meticulous about everything related to safaris, and nothing is left to chance.

Mohamed is incredibly calm and very solution-oriented. Before many others even realize there is a problem, he has already solved it. Unlike many of his compatriots, he is very punctual. He always arrives a little early for meetings and believes that if you are on time, you are late.

Tania
Guide

Our passionate guides

The safari experience depends largely on the guide. In Tanzania, we therefore select our guides very carefully and ensure that they are of high quality in terms of knowledge, safety, and personality. Our guides are professional, dedicated, and always have a twinkle in their eye. As a traveler, you will also have the same guide throughout the safari.
We also ensure that our guides receive continuous training and development. Every year, they have the opportunity to participate in a field trip somewhere in Tanzania, with different themes and focus areas.
In South Africa, each lodge is responsible for its own guides, and there too, the guiding is generally of a very high standard with experienced rangers and trackers who really know their bush.
