Ukumbe Safari Lodge
Umkumbe Safari Lodge is a very popular safari lodge with a fantastic location in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, one of South Africa's most exclusive safari areas in the Greater Kruger.
The reserve has an open border with Kruger National Park, which means that the animals roam freely – and the chances of seeing lots of wildlife are often very good.
The accommodation offers comfortable rooms with en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and private patios, and some chalets also have connecting doors, making them ideal for families or small groups. On hot days, you can relax by the pool overlooking the Sand River and the open bush landscape.
In the evenings, a classic safari experience awaits with dinner often served in a traditional boma around the fire – one of the most atmospheric experiences in the bush. Sometimes there is also the opportunity to go on a night drive after dinner, where you can see animals that are only active after dark.
Umkumbe is also located in a place where you can often see animals directly from the lodge's common areas and terraces. Elephants, buffalos, antelopes, and baboons are common visitors.
