Things to consider for a safari trip to Tanzania

Before setting off on a safari adventure in Tanzania, there are some important things to consider to ensure a smooth and memorable trip. Here are some tips and preparations to keep in mind.

Before the safari

Watching nature documentaries
Watching nature documentaries is a fantastic way to prepare for a safari. Watching documentaries about wildlife in Tanzania or other parts of Africa will give you a taste of the amazing landscapes and animal species you will encounter. You will also gain insights into the interesting and complex dynamics between animals. This knowledge will allow you to appreciate your safari on a deeper level and really take in the whole experience.

Choose the right season
‍The choice of
season can affect your safari experience. Some animals are more visible during certain times of the year, and the weather can also play a role in your experience. Find out when the best time to visit the National Parks is to maximize your chances of seeing what you want.

Arrange a tourist visa
To enter Tanzania you must have a tourist visa, this costs 50 USD per person whether you apply in advance online or buy it on the spot on arrival. To be on the safe side, it is also recommended that you take photocopies of important documents such as your passport, travel documents and insurance papers. These copies can be very helpful in case the original documents get lost during your trip.

Passport validity
When packing for your trip to Tanzania, don't forget to check your passport! It must be valid for at least six months after you plan to return home. This is a requirement for entry into the country. Renewing your passport well in advance of your departure avoids unnecessary stress and ensures that you can enjoy your safari in Tanzania without worries.

Choose the right type of safari
‍ There
are different types of safari arrangements to choose from. You can fly certain distances or only ride a safari jeep. In Arusha National Park we offer canoe safaris. We also offer all our travelers over the age of 13 to go on a walking safari with an armed ranger. In combination with the safari you can also add different day trips.
Be sure to choose the type of safari that best suits your interests and physical abilities. If you have any special requests, such as seeing a specific species of animal, please let us know and we will do our best to meet your expectations.

During the safari

‍Respectnature and wildlife
‍When
you are on safari, it is important to respect nature and wildlife. Always follow the instructions of your guide and avoid disturbing the animals. Remember that you are a guest in their home and act accordingly.

Be prepared for the unexpected
‍ On
safari, unexpected things can happen, such as animals coming very close or a sudden change in the weather, which can mean taking new routes. Be open to receive what comes and see it as part of the adventure.

Download music and podcasts
On your way through Tanzania's landscapes, it can be nice to have some entertainment, especially when the internet connection can be weak. We recommend downloading music and your favorite podcasts to listen to as you travel between parks.

Guide for tips
‍ When
it comes to tips, it can be tricky to know how much to give. In Tanzania it is customary to tip and we have written a small guide that can give you an idea of what is reasonable to give. Then, of course, it's up to you how you want to do it!

Safari 10-15 USD per day/adult
If you are a group, 50 USD per day is enough
Walking safari 15-20 USD per tour
Day trips around Moshi 10-15 per tour
Visits to Maasai village 10-15 USD per visit

Enjoy the moment
↪Cf_200 Imagine
yourself in the safari vehicle, rolling through the vast savannah. All around you, a herd of elephants emerges from the morning mist, a herd of zebras gallop across the field, and giraffes reach for leaves high up in the trees. Instead of always chasing the perfect shot, try putting the camera down and just enjoy the moment for a while. Listen to the sounds of nature and see how animals live in their natural environment. By being fully present in these moments, you can fully enjoy the experience.
