Packing list for a safari trip and Zanzibar

Preparing for a safari is an exciting time. A good packing list is key to a smooth and comfortable safari experience. Here's our ultimate packing list covering everything from clothing and equipment to personal accessories.

Clothing

- Airy and thin clothes: Ideal for the hot days during the safari.
- Covering clothes and a thick sweater: Important during the chilly evenings and as protection against mosquitoes.
- Clothes in neutral colors: Choose colors that do not attract insects and that blend in with the surroundings; avoid black and blue which may attract some insects.
- Adapted clothing for urban environment : In Zanzibar and in cities, it is important to wear clothes that cover shoulders and knees in respect of the local culture.

Toiletries & Protection

- Sunscreen and aftersun lotion: Important to protect the skin from the strong sun and to alleviate any sun damage.
- Mosquito repellent: Good to have to keep away mosquitoes and other insects.
- Wet wipes: For personal hygiene on days when access to amenities may be a little limited.

Medicine

- Medication, malaria tablets and allergy medication: It is important to pack any medication. If you have allergy problems, we recommend that you bring tablets for this.
- Motion sickness tablets and fluid replacement: It is extremely rare to get motion sickness, but if you have problems with this, bring tablets. To keep your fluid level up, it can be good to have a fluid replacement.

Document

- Passport and visa: Check that your passport is valid for at least six months after your planned return and that you have the necessary visa. You can also apply for this on the spot.
- Travel insurance and vaccination certificate: If you have a document with additional insurance, you may want to take it with you.
- Copies of important documents: Keep copies separate from the originals for extra security.

Equipment

- Binoculars and camera with extra batteries: To capture the wildlife and landscapes in the best possible way. We do have a pair of binoculars in the jeep, but it's always good to have an extra pair.
- Flashlight or headlamp and extra batteries: For dark evenings and nighttime adventures.
- Battery charger/Powerbank To keep your electronics charged during the trip. However, there are chargers in the safari jeep.

Other

- Backpack or bag: To carry your belongings on trips, but also to keep at your seat in the jeep.
- Power adapter Type G: To ensure that you can use your electronics independently of local electricity standards.

Before you set off, take a look at this packing list to make sure you're ready. Being on top of the details will make everything easier when you set off on the adventure of a lifetime.
